2 Valley professionals named to state boards

(WKBN) – Two Valley professionals have been named to state boards.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine named Rebecca J. Williamson Brown, of Salem, has been reappointed to the State Vision Professionals Board for a term beginning Oct. 31, 2025, and ending March 22, 2028.

The Board oversees activities related to the licensing of nearly 6,500 optometrists and opticians and is comprised of seven members 

Deana M. Pace, of Warren, has been reappointed to the State Board of Emergency Medical, Fire, and Transportation Services for a term beginning Nov. 13, 2025, and ending Nov. 12, 2028.

The State Board of Emergency Medical, Fire, and Transportation Services (EMFTS) is responsible for:

  • Establishing training and certification standards for emergency medical services personnel
  • Accreditation of EMS training programs
  • Approval of EMS continuing education sites
  • Oversight of Ohio’s trauma system
  • Oversight of the EMS grant program, providing grants for training, equipment and research
  • Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) program coordination
  • Licensing of Ohio’s medical transportation services
  • Coordination of the Regional Physician Advisory Boards
  • Collection and analysis of data submitted to the EMS Incident Reporting System and the Ohio Trauma Registry
  • Investigations to ensure compliance with the Ohio Revised and Administrative Codes

The board consists of 21 members.
