Guardians announce a flurry of roster moves

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WKBN) – The Cleveland Guardians announced a flurry of roster moves on Thursday afternoon.

The team declined the club’s $6 million club option on veteran pitcher John Means.

The 32-year old signed with Cleveland as a free agent prior to the 2025 season.

Means, who did not appear in a Major League game with the Guardians, made seven rehab appearances in minor leagues for Cleveland as he worked his way back from Tommy John surgery.

In addition, the team activated the following players from the 60-day injured list: outfielder Will Brennan, left-handed pitcher Same Hentges, and right-handed pitcher Andrew Walters.

The following players were outrighted to Triple-A Columbus and elected free agency: infielder Will Wilson, catcher Dom Nunez, left-handed pitcher Kolby Allard, left-handed pitcher Matt Krook, and right-handed pitcher Ben Lively.

The Guardians’ 40-man roster is currently at 37 players.
