‘Amanda Dean’s Law’ aims to raise penalties for abuse of a corpse

House Bill 654, sponsored by Reps. Gayle Manning (R-Avon) and Kellie Deeter (R-Norwalk), would create a tiered penalty system for gross abuse of a corpse, ranging from a fifth-degree felony to a second-degree felony. Currently, the offense is a fifth-degree felony in all circumstances, according to the lawmakers.
