PITTSBURGH (WBOY) — A man was seriously injured after falling from the upper deck at PPG Paints Arena Monday night, local outlets reported.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials told ABC affiliate WTAE that the man had fallen from the 200-level seats about 15 minutes after a game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the St. Louis Blues had begun.

Safety officials said the man crashed into another person in a suite on the way down before landing on the 100 level of the arena. Officials told WTAE the man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and the person in the suite was evaluated but declined further treatment.

The identities of either of the people directly involved have not been released.

The Pittsburgh Penguins stated after the incident, which read:

“The Pittsburgh Penguins can confirm that an adult male fell from the upper concourse to the lower bowl at PPG Paints Arena earlier this evening. The individual was immediately attended to by Pittsburgh EMS as well as PPG Paints Arena personnel and has since been transported to a local hospital.

“Although there is no further information at this time, the Penguins and OVG Management Group are closely monitoring the situation. Our concerns remain with the individual and his family at this time.”

This marks the second time in just a few days that a person has fallen at a Pittsburgh sports venue, and the third time this year, following an incident at Acrisure Stadium on Saturday night and another at PNC Park back in April.
