Pirates’ ace named a finalist for the Cy Young Award
PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WKBN) – Pittsburgh Pirates ace pitcher Paul Skenes was named a finalist for the National League Cy Young Award.
It marks the second consecutive season that he is a finalist for the award.
The other finalists for the award are Philadelphia’s Cristopher Sanchez and Yoshinobu Yamamoto of the World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers.
This season, Skenes posted a record of 10-10 with a 1.97 ERA. In 32 games, he tossed 187.2 innings, piling up 216 strikeouts.
For his efforts during the 2024 season, Skenes was named the National League Rookie of the Year.
He is also a two-time National League All-Star.
The 2025 National League Cy Young Award winner will be announced on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
