DJ Akademiks Says Drake Is Bound To Sign The “Biggest Record Deal” In History

Drake may not be the mega superstar that he was prior to Kendrick Lamar tearing down his empire brick-by-brick back in the Spring of 2024, but you can’t tell that to DJ Akademiks, who continues to sing the praises of the embattled king of the North and revealed the Canadian crooner/rapper is on the cusp of making Hip-Hop history regardless of his current social status.
In a recent NFR podcast, Drake’s favorite fluffer, DJ Akademiks, touched on the topic of Drizzy’s upcoming record deal, and while we’re sure it’ll be quite the payday for one of the most famous music artists of our lifetime, DJ Ak described it as the “biggest record deal in history, on the books in terms of what they would have to pay him in advance.”
Drake Is Now A Free Agent
Coming off a three-album drop this past May (Iceman, Habibti, and Maid Of Honour), Drizzy wrapped up a $400 million deal with Universal Music Group and is now basically a free agent looking for a new payday. The problem here is that Drizzy is basically Ja Rule in 2003 out in these streets after Kendrick Lamar 50 Cent’d his career and reputation with “Not Like Us.”
Whether a record label is willing to eclipse a $400 million payday to sign Drake in his current status remains to be seen, but best believe DJ Ak is doing his part to make sure his GOAT gets the biggest payday the music game has seen thus far. Drake’s recent three-album drop topped all three slots on Billboard’s Top 200 upon release, but none of the songs on those projects seem to have been commercial hits. So who knows what music execs may be thinking when it comes to breaking the bank for Drake.
